The phrase MADE STRONG has really become a battle cry and a strength to me. I love the phrase for three reasons.
We are MADE STRONG by God. You are created by God, and there’s a strength and fortitude inside of you. You are stronger than you know. You can climb mountains and conquer challenges. It’s true for all of us. You were made by God, and you were MADE STRONG. But it’s not only past tense.
We are MADE STRONG continually by God. There’s a strength that comes to us day by day or even moment by moment. When you need it, God shows up with strength. When you’re overwhelmed and it’s too much, then God will make you strong in your weakness. It’s passive. I receive strength from God.
It’s personal. My name “Kendrick” means “strong in spirit.” My verse for 2019 is “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NIV) When God is strength of your heart, you become strong in spirit.
Our 12-year-old daughter Amelia offered to make Nana and me bracelets that said “MADE STRONG.” So just two days after finding out about the diagnosis of cancer, we walked into church both wearing our MADE STRONG bracelets. Jonathan and Michelle Love both wear the bracelet too.
At Grace Church, our New Year sermon series is going to be on MADE STRONG. I’m so excited to for what God is going to as we dive into health for our bodies, souls, and spirits. I love y’all. You are MADE STRONG!
